American Women's Club of Luxembourg (AWCL)

The AWCL is a non-profit, volunteer-run group serving women in Luxembourg and the surrounding region. Members of the AWCL support each other as expats as they make their way through living in the Grand Duchy. All sorts of activities are offered and organized, for all ages. The AWCL has its own Clubhouse: a place where we meet, socialize and offer language classes. As a club, we also work to help the less fortunate in our own community and around the world, so many philanthropic activities and events are part of our annual program.

An American in Luxembourg Book Signing

Galerie Schortgen -
24, rue Beaumont L-1219 Luxembourg
Friday, October 20 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm

The anticipation is over and the book is out! Join us for a special morning as we welcome Mike McQuaide, the American in Luxembourg! We will enjoy some mimosas and light appetizers as we tour the lovely Galerie Schortgen and hear a brief reading from Mike himself. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
The Galerie Schortgen is offering AWCL an exclusive viewing of the works of Joerg Doering.  Born in the mid-1960s in Germany, Doering's early works were influenced by the Pop Art of the 1960s and 1970s. He later transitioned into oil paintings, unique silkscreen printing and ultimately collage, mixing and combining different crafting disciplines. His work has been shown in over 250 exhibits. To learn more about this exhibit, check out
Following the signing, members are invited to join Mike for a relaxed lunch with the author at Cafe de Capucins - 1A rue Beaumont, L-1219, Luxembourg. Space for lunch is limited, so please RSVP to This email address is being protected from spambots. Mike's book is currently for sale in the Clubhouse from our vendor Little English Bookworm. If you can't pick up your copy in advance, books will be available for purchase at the event.

Halloween Trunk or Treat
St. Georges International School

Join us for our annual costume bonanza. It will be a fun afternoon filled with costumes, face painting, balloon animals, crafts, bouncy castles, soft play, a spooky treasure hunt (ages 7-12 only), food trucks, a tombola and of course, lots of candy!

Tickets go on sale October 2nd at the AWCL Clubhouse and at St. George's (Reception Desk). Tickets are €10 per child for members and €15 for non members. Adults and children under 1 are free. No walk ins on the day of the event! This event will sell out, so secure your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
Children need to be signed up ahead of time for the treasure hunt (ages 7-12) as there are limited spaces!

What is trunk or treat?
Trunk or Treat is a Halloween event where trick or treating is done from the decorated trunks of parked cars around a large parking lot. This ensures the safety of our children while still having fun collecting candy.

If you would like to help us and volunteer your car (we will supply all the candy), please email Andrea at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
