Refugee Assistance

The AWCL is collecting the following items at the Clubhouse to be delivered directly to the refugee camp at Trier West, where there are currently 2000 refugees.
 The items needed are:
  • Any spring and summer clothes for men, women or children
  • Mens' clothes in medium or small, especially t-shirts, socks, pants, jeans or sweat pants.
  • Women are also small, so especially small trousers, jumpers, tops and jackets.
  • Shoes are needed in small sizes (doesn't matter how worn). Trainers are good, but no heels, snow boots or Wellies.
  • Old toys for children are great, but only small items such as cuddly toys, dolls, cars, tennis balls, footballs, skipping ropes and chalks. There is little room for the children to play. No puzzles, board games or books that are not in Arabic.
Please, no bedding or towels at this stage as they are given these items when they arrive.
Kindly bring your donated items to the Clubhouse in a bag or box and leave them with the Welcome Desk Volunteer during open hours.

Donating Your Books

Thanks for donating your English books to our collection at the clubhouse. If you have books that you no longer need please drop them off at the clubhouse front desk. We offer these books for sale to members. Come by and take a look. There are plenty of books to add to your summer reading library.

Gifts for Kids

Since 1996, the AWCL has coordinated a massive effort to make sure children in need in Luxembourg have a gift for St. Nicholas Day. We work with various corporate and school partners to raise money to grant children's wishes. We place Christmas trees in offices, schools and other locations with ornaments representing the toys the children have requested. People pick an ornament and make the donation. Also, our generous corporate sponsors contribute funds. Each year we gift presents to around 800 children in Luxembourg.

The FAWCO Foundation

Are you a quilter?

Every year since 1995, FAWCO members throughout the world have contributed their creativity and sewing talents to the FAWCO Friendship Quilt.

This international collaboration has resulted in a unique collection of stunning handmade quilts. The greatly coveted finished product is raffled each year at the FAWCO annual conference in order to raise money for The Foundation's programs and charitable causes.

This year's theme is Embrace the World and all of its Schoolhouses. If you would like to participate, you can submit a quilt square. The deadline to do so is October 10, 2016. There are more details on the FAWCO Foundation Friendship Quilts page or you can email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Fisher House

This facility is located on the Landstuhl U.S. Air Force Base in Germany and provides a temporary residence near the medical facility where wounded servicemen and women and their family members can eat, sleep, relax and find support from other families in similar situations. We support the Fisher house every year with all of the proceeds from our Trick or Treat event. For more details, visit the Fisher House website.
